DAY 3
Denmate to Agouti
The best sightseeing at an altitude of 2.400m
Today is the day your gravel bike adventure begins! Leaving the town of Denmate, the track will take you through a mountainous landscape, reaching an altitude of 2,400 meters. In the first kilometers, you will have a chance to see one of the most beautiful geological formations in the world, a natural cave and bridge with approximately 70 meters of height. Iminifri (‘Grotto’s Mouth’ in Berber), is a natural travertine bridge that formed over a gorge 1.8 million years ago.
The two sides of the bridge are said to represent two local lovers whose families kept them apart, so Romeo and Juliet held hands and turned to stone. But that´s not all, along the route you will also pass by Geoparc M´goun, a World Heritage area by UNESCO that fits into the geological evolution of the central High Atlas dating back to the Triassic period, 250 million years ago, while the main stages took place during the Jurassic period, about 180 million years ago. The route heads towards the destination of Agouti, where these gravel roads will be challenging, but will bring unique and stunning views of Morocco. When you get to the highest point for today stop at Tizi N’ Tighist, a place where rock carvings were done millenniums ago.

DAY 4
Agouti to Amzeri
Up to the Tizi n’Tirghist mountain pass
The Happy Valley is perhaps one of the most beautiful valleys in our Atlas Mountains by Gravel Bike tour. Surrounded by stunning mountains, it also allows us to immerse ourselves in the true traditional Berber culture. Today we will explore this beautiful valley, as we ride to Zaouiat Ahansal, a remote town founded in the 13th century by an Islamic traveler and scholar named Sidi Said Ahansal. Local legend says that his mentor told him once, to stop where his cat jumped off his donkey, the reason why he established there Zawiya, a religious school.
Starting along the valley floor, always side by side with the river, you will have the opportunity to enjoy, once again, this unique place, before tackling our first long ascending to the Tizi n’Tirghist (2.626 m), a high mountain pass. The views from up here are magnificent, with the dark craggy form of the Mgoun Massif contrasting starkly with the startling greens of the valley below. From here, we will continue the Mountain scenario until our second (and last) ascent of the day until Tizi n’Ilissi (2.530 m). Then, a long descent will lead us into the village of Amzerai, where we will stay the night.

As we go up, surrounded by an impressive Aleppo pine forest, we will notice the contrasts of natural beauty between green and red. It is a magnificent setting with beautiful views, contrasts, and wildlife.
An incredible descent will attract our attention to Morocco’s famous ‘Cathedral Rock’, an imposing natural wonder that emerges from the wild nature near the river. Once again, on the banks of the river, we will ride through a nice green valley until Anergui. On the way, it will be possible to admire almond trees that live side by side with subsistence agriculture, showing us how people live in one of the most remote places in Morocco.
