Today, we will drive to the exciting and lively city of Dades! Make yourself comfortable in the car during this trip. This region and valley in southeastern Morocco is known for its stunning canyons, mountains, and the Dades Gorges. The Dades Valley is a popular tourist destination, characterized by the Dades Gorges carved out by the Dades River. The area features unique rock formations, most famously the “Monkey Fingers”, which were sculpted by wind and time. This region serves as a gateway to the desert and the ancient trading oases of Tafilalt, where you can observe the landscape shift from rugged canyons to arid plains.

Dades to Tamtattouche
Your adventure on the gravel bike begins today!
This is the day your gravel bike adventure through the Atlas Mountains begins! Leaving the town of Dades, the track will take you through a mountainous landscape, reaching an altitude of 2,600 meters. The route heads towards the destination of Tamtattouche, where the gravel roads will be challenging but offer a unique and stunning view of Morocco. Get ready to discover the true essence of exploration as you conquer the highest point of your expedition and embrace the unique charm of this Moroccan cycling experience. You will pass through the most spectacular section of this stage – the breathtaking Zik-Zak road, almost at the end of the canyon.

TAMTATTOUCHE TO IMILCHIL
The beauty of the gorges!
From the rocky plains of Tamtattouche, we ride into one of the most remote and atmospheric sections of the High Atlas. The day begins with open desert landscapes, slowly giving way to alpine scenery as we climb around 800 meters over 16 kilometers. It’s a steady effort, but one that rewards with silence, space, and a sense of connection to the terrain.
The gravel route follows the Assif Melloul river, passing through Agoudal, one of the highest villages in North Africa. Life here follows its own rhythm, shaped by isolation, altitude, and tradition. From there, the route rolls across high plateaus and valleys until we reach Imilchil, a place rooted in Berber stories and surrounded by crisp mountain air.

Imilchil to Anergui
Discovering the best Morocco hidden secrets
Start your day in the highlands of Imilchil (2.100 m), where we’ll begin with a gentle ascent towards the legendary Isli and Tisli lakes. Nestled in the heart of the High Atlas, these natural gems offer a glimpse into the authentic mountain life. The Isli Lake, at 2.270 m, belongs to the Ait Ibrahim tribe, while the Tisli Lake, slightly lower at 2.252 m, is part of the Ait Yazza tribal lands and feeds the valley of Asif Mellou. After enjoying this serene and magical area, we’ll continue our route descending towards Tassent and Tasraft. We will cycle along Assif n’Tafedna at altitudes between 2.300 m and 1.900 m, with stunning scenery as we pass through remote villages and rugged terrain. Our stage finishes with an impressive 12 km descent of almost 1.000 m down to the Anergui valley, offering breathtaking views as we approach our destination. The perfect conclusion to an epic journey through one of Morocco’s most spectacular hidden regions.

Anergui to AMZRI
Riding through one of Morocco’s Grand Canyons
Today, we will explore the beautiful Anergui Valley, where the Ahansal River flows. Famous among rafting lovers, it is also a place where we can find the most beautiful and pristine wilderness in Morocco. So, after a delicious and traditional breakfast, we will start our stage to Amzri. Leaving Anergui, we’ll begin our day riding through a beautiful green valley along the river, where almond trees thrive side by side with small-scale agriculture. This landscape offers a glimpse into life in one of Morocco’s most remote areas. As we follow the valley, the terrain starts to rise gently, and soon we’ll be captivated by the majestic sight of Morocco’s famous ‘Cathedral Rock’, an awe-inspiring natural formation that stands proudly in the wild surroundings near the river. We then continue with an exhilarating ascent through a magnificent Aleppo pine forest. The contrast between the green pines and the red earth creates a stunning and colorful backdrop filled with natural beauty and wildlife. After this soft climb, we will arrive at Tifouina, and the final kilometers will take us further into the High Atlas, concluding our day in Amezri, surrounded by an unforgettable mountain landscape.

Amzri to Agouti
Up to the Tizi N’Tirghist Mountain Pass
From Amzri, we embark on a long ascent toward Tizi n’Ilissi (2.530 m), the first climb of the day. The mountain scenery surrounds us as we continue this spectacular route through the High Atlas. After reaching the pass, we press on toward the Tizi n’Tirghist (2.626 m), the highest point of the day. From this impressive mountain pass, we are rewarded with magnificent views, where the dark, craggy silhouette of the Mgoun Massif contrasts beautifully with the vivid greens of the valley far below. We then begin our first long descent, winding down to the valley floor, riding alongside the river. This stretch offers yet another opportunity to enjoy the serene beauty of the Happy Valley, known as one of the most beautiful valleys in the Atlas Mountains. Surrounded by towering peaks and vibrant landscapes, this area also allows us to connect deeply with the traditional Berber culture. As we explore the town and valley, we immerse ourselves in its rich cultural heritage, completing a memorable ride through one of Morocco’s most iconic and unspoiled regions.

Agouti to Imnifri

This is your last day of this great adventure in the Atlas Mountains, which takes you deep into the wild beauty of the Central High Atlas, across remote villages, dramatic mountain landscapes, and timeless valleys. From the moment you leave the peaceful surroundings of Agouti, the adventure begins. You’ll pass through the heart of Aït Bou Oulli, Assameur, and Ighboula villages, where Berber traditions are still alive in every stone house and terraced field. The route winds along hidden trails and mountain roads, offering wide-open views of red canyons, deep green valleys, and snow-capped peaks in the distance. As you ride further, the landscape becomes even more spectacular. The road climbs and curves through Tabalout, revealing one scenic view after another. The stage finishes in Imi n’Ifri, a place carved by nature itself, famous for its stunning natural limestone arch. It’s the perfect ending of this tour full of challenges, wonder, and pure Moroccan magic.
