Today marks the start of your Cape Verde hiking adventure. Upon arrival, you’ll be welcomed by our expert guide and transferred to your accommodation in Mindelo, where you’ll spend the first few nights.
Mindelo, located on São Vicente Island, is known as the cultural capital of Cape Verde. With its colonial architecture, vibrant music scene, and relaxed coastal vibe, it’s the perfect place to ease into your active holiday. Spend the afternoon walking along white sandy beaches, soaking in views of the Atlantic, or exploring local museums and historical sites. It’s a gentle start to what promises to be a memorable walking and trekking experience through the islands.

Hike one of Cape Verde’s lushest and most beautiful valleys!
After breakfast, we head to Mindelo’s port (5-minute transfer) to catch the ferry to Santo Antão, one of the best islands in Cape Verde for hiking and walking holidays. Known for its mountain scenery and deep green valleys, this island is a true highlight for nature lovers.
Upon arrival in Porto Novo, a scenic transfer along the Corda road (about 45 minutes) takes us through rugged peaks and lush landscapes. From there, we begin today’s guided hike in Ribeira da Vinha, following volcanic paths and stopping at a striking 150-meter waterfall. The trail offers wide views over the island and passes through a variety of local vegetation.
A traditional Cape Verdean lunch is included, giving you a taste of local flavors. In the late afternoon, we transfer to your accommodation in Ponta do Sol, where you can relax and enjoy the calm of this coastal village.

The day begins with a short transfer to the port of Mindelo, where we board the ferry to Santo Antão, one of the top destinations in Cape Verde for hiking holidays. Upon arrival in Porto Novo, a scenic drive along the island’s mountainous Corda road takes us through peaks and green valleys, setting the tone for the adventure ahead.
Guided by our expert guide, we start today’s walk in the Ribeira da Vinha area. The trail follows volcanic paths through natural scenery and leads us to a striking 150-meter-high waterfall. Along the way, we walk through rich vegetation and enjoy wide views over the island’s rugged interior, an ideal route for lovers of nature.
A traditional Cape Verdean lunch adds a local touch to the experience, giving us a taste of regional flavors. Today, on the Mountains of Cape Verde and Island of Fogo tour, prepare for an unforgettable hike as we venture to a village recognized by National Geographic. for having one of the best views in the world: Fontainhas. Nestled in the mountains with a narrow access road along cliffs above the sea, it is the highlight of the day.
The journey begins at Ponta do Sol and follows the narrow road of Fontainhas, unveiling various types of cultivation. We will then reach the ‘Selada’ de Corvo, where panoramic views await. Continuing to Formiguinhas, a small seaside village, we’ll pass through Aranhas, an abandoned town, and arrive at Ribeira Seca Beach, with its striking black and white sands and lava caves. The journey concludes in the picturesque fishing village of Cruzinha, ensuring a truly unique experience.

After a traditional Cape Verdean breakfast, we begin the day with a transfer to Janela, where today’s walk starts. This trail offers a peaceful and scenic hike through the island’s fertile farmland, passing banana groves, sugar cane fields, and fruit plantations filled with papaya and mango trees.
As we walk through this vibrant landscape, we pass by small rural homes and terraced gardens, offering insight into the agricultural life of local families. After these enriching days of hiking, today’s walk takes us to the southwest region of the island, an area known for its remote villages and welcoming local communities. A short transfer brings us to Alto Mira, where we begin a gentle hike toward Ribeira das Patas, passing through rural paths and quiet farmland.
Along the way, we’ll visit places like Forquinha, where wide panoramic views stretch across Alto Mira and the Ribeira das Patas valley. This walk also offers a chance to observe the traditional way of life in these isolated areas, including the simple yet ingenious methods locals use to transport water across the terrain.
